The single best way to prevent getting the flu is to get vaccinated. In addition, it is wise to practice other healthy habits:
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick;
- Stay home from work, school and running errands when you are sick;
- Sneeze or cough into the inner aspect of the elbow or upper arm; and
- Wash your hands often to protect yourself from germs.
Wondering if you need a flu shot? Read the CDC FAQ Sheet, and then decide.
FREE Flu Shot Also Available at Some Local Pharmacies
Did you know that the district’s prescription plan considers flu vaccinations a covered benefit if they are administered through a retail pharmacy? For those who are unable to attend the Employee Flu Shot Clinics offered at a district site, you can visit a local participating pharmacy and receive a FREE flu shot. Be sure to ask your doctor if a flu vaccination is right for you. If so, simply present your medical card at the local participating pharmacies:
- CVS
- Costco
- K-Mart
- Safeway (Vons)
- Walgreens
