Locating Network Providers

Find Healthcare Providers at Your Fingertips

With so many changes in the healthcare market these days, it is understandable that one may find difficulty navigating their way through it all. Yet, the Joint Health Management Board (JHMB) believes that you shouldn’t find it difficult to locate the right healthcare provider for you and your family when you need one. In partnership with its key vendors, the JHMB has created quick guides to help you locate network providers for your medical, dental, vision, behavioral health, and chiropractic care benefits. When contacting a provider, be sure to have your insurance card available–it contains plan information your provider will most likely need to answer your questions, including group number and network.

REMINDER: Don’t Throw Money Away

You can reduce your out-of-pocket costs and avoid unnecessary fees by using in-network providers. You often pay much less for in-network care because:
  • In-network providers agree to discount or reduce their fees for you as a member of the network.
  • You don’t have to file a claim; the provider does this for you.
  • Most non-hospital benefits are subject to only a copay. Whereas, when you use out-of-network providers, you pay a coinsurance of the Usual, Reasonable and Customary cost for most benefits (generally more expensive that a copay).
  • A provider won’t bill for more than the fee agreed upon by the network. Out-of-network providers often “balance bill” meaning they bill patients for the balance between what they want to charge for services and what the insurance company has already reimbursed them.
