What is a WellPATH Champion?

A WellPATH Champion is an on-site ambassador for the WellPATH program who is committed to creating a workplace culture of health and wellness. Our WellPATH Champions are integral to our program because they share a responsibility to:

Create excitement around leading a healthy lifestyle.
Coordinate wellness initiatives at their employment site, such as the seasonal influenza prevention program, and assist with set-up at on-site events.
Promote wellness programs, distribute materials, post flyers in strategic places at their employment sites, and use word-of-mouth to encourage participation in events and screenings.

What Does a WellPATH Champion Do?

A WellPATH Champion is the WellPATH program’s eyes and ears (and arms and legs) at their employment site. WellPATH Champions can be volunteers from any job type within the employment site. As a Champion, you will be asked to commit to at least one year in the role, with two meetings per year and about three to four hours per month of effort. Every six months, we will come together to learn about what’s going on in the program, share ideas and thoughts, and discuss the feedback you have received from your colleagues and team members about WellPATH. We also recommend letting all supervisors know you have volunteered.

WellPATH Champions are encouraged to host events throughout the calendar year. Rewards will be distributed throughout the school year and over the summer months, as summer wellness services are included in the final count.

  • Communicating with WellPATH Wellness Program Manager
  • Identifying a “wellness corner” or bulletin board for posters and other wellness-related informational materials and keeping it up-to-date
  • Disseminating WellPATH materials and helping to promote on-site events and other programs/services
  • Assisting with coordinating events, such as on-site flu shot clinics and on-site wellness screening events
  • Annual Champion Appreciation Event
  • WellPATH brand items (shirt, tote bag, pen, stress ball, water bottle, etc.)
  • $50 Visa Gift Card
  • District-wide recognition

Your Wellness Corner

Your Wellness Corner should include information about important dates for all on-site or near-site events related to the above programs, as well as any additional health- and wellness-focused tips, articles, or infographics. The key prevention focus areas for your role are to encourage District employees to eat well, participate in group fitness classes, stay tobacco-free, get screened and immunized, and take advantage of no-cost preventive exams. We want to recognize our Champions for the hard work you all do creating a supportive wellness environment at your sites.

Take a photo of your Wellness Corner and share it with us for your chance to win! WellPATH Champions are encouraged (but not required) to be in the photo wearing the WellPATH Champion shirt. I agree to represent my school/department as the Wellness Champion for this school year. I understand the outlined roles and responsibilities of the Wellness Champion and will assist in the implementation and coordination of wellness initiatives. I agree to not only support the WellPATH Employee Wellness program by my participation, but to collaborate with my local management team to support the initiatives as well. I understand that the success of the program hinges on all employees being empowered to make informed decisions that positively impact their health. The WellPATH program can count on me to be a messenger and motivator and to help gather information from my co-workers, principals and managers to help foster a culture of wellness within Fresno Unified School District that supports good health.

I also understand that I may be asked to assist in scheduling rooms and programs (including wellness screenings, seasonal influenza program) at my location, displaying WellPATH brochures, posters, etc. in appropriate areas, and encouraging my co-workers to be involved in the WellPATH Employee Wellness program.
