Your Aetna® PPO Access to Institutes of Excellence® & Institutes of Quality®

JHMB

|

Whether it’s transplants or other surgical procedures, if you are enrolled in a Fresno Unified School District PPO Plan, you have access to networks of skilled and high-performing facilities.

Institutes of Excellence® Hospitals for Transplants

Sometimes the best life-saving option may be an organ or bone marrow/stem cell transplant. These operations require a special degree of skill and care.

As a member, you have access to a special network of hospitals that specialize in these services. We call these hospitals our Institutes of Excellence (IOE) Transplant Hospitals. They participate in the network but only for specific types of transplants. To support your transplant care, your plan provides nurses and coordinators to assist you under a program called the National Medical Excellence Program® (NME). This staff will work with you and your providers throughout your transplant care.

Institutes of Quality® Facilities for Surgery

Sometimes, surgery is the best choice for your health. But all surgery carries some level of risk, so it’s also important to look for facilities known for quality care for surgical procedures.

As a member, you have a special network of hospitals and other facilities that specialize in certain procedures:

  • Cardiac (for the heart, including coronary artery bypass surgery and atrial valve replacement)
  • Orthopedic (for the joints and spine, including total joint replacement to knee, hip replacement surgery, and spinal surgery)
  • Bariatric (for weight loss)

We call these facilities our Institutes of Quality (IOQ for short). Facilities earn IOQ status by having high volumes and producing clear clinical results in their area of specialty. This delivers value and quality to members, so you can get back to living your life.

You may need preauthorization for these services. You can view our Clinical Policy Bulletins and learn more about specific surgery coverage.

The IOQ facilities listed below receive designations for the following:

  • Cardiac: cardiac medical intervention, cardiac rhythm, cardiac surgery
  • Orthopedic: spine, total joint replacement

Become a WellPATH Champion

If your site is not listed, please include your location below.

I agree to represent my school/department as the Wellness Champion for this school year. I understand the outlined roles and responsibilities of the Wellness Champion and will assist in the implementation and coordination of wellness initiatives. I agree to not only support the WellPATH Employee Wellness program by my participation, but to collaborate with my local management team to support the initiatives as well. I understand that the success of the program hinges on all employees being empowered to make informed decisions that positively impact their health. The WellPATH program can count on me to be a messenger and motivator and to help gather information from my co-workers, principals and managers to help foster a culture of wellness within Fresno Unified School District that supports good health.

I also understand that I may be asked to assist in scheduling rooms and programs (including wellness screenings, seasonal influenza program) at my location, displaying WellPATH brochures, posters, etc. in appropriate areas, and encouraging my co-workers to be involved in the WellPATH Employee Wellness program.
