TO: Fresno Unified School District Employee Health Care Plan Participants in PPO Plan Options A and B
DATE: August 20, 2021
The Joint Health Management Board is pleased to announce that Anthem Blue Cross and Dignity Health have formally renewed their agreement that had previously expired in July 2021.
No Break for In-Network Services
Though the Dignity Health contract originally expired at 5:00 PM PST on July 15, 2021, their renewed agreement with Anthem Blue Cross is effective retroactive to July 15, 2021. If you have received service at Dignity Health on or after 5:00 PM PST on July 15, 2021, those services will continue to be charged at the in-network rate.
If You Notice Any Billing Inconsistencies: If you receive a bill from Dignity Health that exceeds the amount indicated as the member responsibility on the Explanation of Benefits you receive from Delta Health Systems for services rendered after 5:00 PM PST on July 15, 2021, please contact Delta Health Systems at the toll-free number on your ID card, so that it may be handled appropriately.
CORRECTION: Dignity Health Alternate Hospitals List – July 2021
The previous notice distributed by the Joint Health Management Board in July 2021 announcing the termination of the Dignity Health contract included a list of Alternate Hospitals dated July 15, 2021. Unfortunately, that list included the following Sutter facilities, which are out-of-network for the District’s PPO Plans A and B:
- Alta Bates Summit MC-Alta Bates Campus – Berkeley, CA
- Alta Bates Summit Medical Center – Oakland, CA
- California Pacific Medical Center (All Locations) – San Francisco, CA
- Eden Medical Center – Castro Valley, CA
- Mills Health Center – San Mateo, CA
- Mills-Peninsula Medical Center – Burlingame, CA
- Sutter Amador Hospital – Jackson, CA
- Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital – Auburn, CA
- Sutter Davis Hospital – Davis, CA
- Sutter Maternity & Surgery Center – Santa Cruz, CA
- Sutter Medical Center Sacramento – Sacramento, CA
- Sutter Roseville Medical Center – Roseville, CA
If you received service at any of the facilities noted above between July 15, 2021 and August 20, 2021, please contact the District Benefits Office at (559) 457-3520 to inform us of the issue.
If you have scheduled service at any of the facilities noted above but have not yet received care, we highly recommend you reconsider your options, as you will be charged out-of-network rates for those services.
As a reminder, we recommend that you always check the in-network status of your providers prior to receiving service. Using in-network providers helps you reduce your out-of-pocket costs and avoid unnecessary fees.
Locating a Network Provider: In partnership with its key vendors, the JHMB has created quick guides to help you locate in-network providers for your medical, dental, vision, behavioral health, and chiropractic care benefits. When contacting a provider, be sure to have your insurance card available – it contains plan information your provider will most likely need to answer your questions, including group number and network.
