TO: Fresno Unified School District Employee Health Care Plan Participants in PPO Plan Options A and B
DATE: August 24, 2019
Recently, the Joint Health Management Board (JHMB) of the Fresno Unified School District was informed that Anthem Blue Cross (Medical Plan Vendor for Plan Options A and B) is currently in late-term contract negotiations with Stanford Hospital and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital (collectively “Stanford”). It is possible that these negotiations may result in the termination of the in-network benefits at these two facilities for Plan Options A and B participants effective September 1, 2019.
In-Network Rates May Expire in September 2019
The current Stanford contract with Anthem Blue Cross is set to expire on August 31, 2019. Should this contract expire before an agreement is reached, the services at the facilities will be considered out-of-network (i.e. resulting in higher member costs) the day following the contract expiration.
